Strengthening Roots, Transforming Lives

Women and tribal communities in rural and semi-urban areas often struggle to access resources, vocational skills, and markets, limiting their earning capacity. Marginalised groups like the Birhor tribe are particularly vulnerable, with limited livelihood options and seasonal migration.

  • Implemented targeted livelihood programmes to enhance income opportunities and empower communities, especially women, through skill-building, entrepreneurship, and resource support.
  • Jan Jeevika Kendra (JJK): Supports over 300 women in SHGs through income-generating activities like organic herbal products, jute products, tailoring, mushroom cultivation, and dairy management. Sub-programmes include Chaiti (papad, pickles), Odifab (jute products, phenyl), Ecospa (herbal beauty products), and more.
  • Aakriti Production Centre (Tamnar): Provides vocational training in crafts and textile production, creating women entrepreneurs skilled in zardosi crafts, embroidered fabrics, and more.
  • Jan Jeevika Express – Bazaar on Wheels: Enables 330 SHG members to market and sell their products in collaboration with ORMAS (Govt. of Odisha).
  • Lac Bangles and Artificial Jewellery: Training and production activities at Barbil and Patratu to enhance artisan skills.
  • Tent House Business: SHG women managing tent and utensil rental services for village functions.
  • Rope Making for Birhor Community: Utilises traditional skills of the Birhor tribe for rope making using waste cement sacks, supplemented with bank account facilitation to foster financial independence.
  • SHG Revival and Capacity Building: Trained 5,270 SHG members and conducted workshops to encourage micro-enterprises.
